PRESS: Govt to allot 85 bln rbl to develop new version for SSJ100

MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has backed the Industry and Trade Ministry’s proposal to develop a new version of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft and agreed to allot around 85 billion rubles for the project, Kommersant business daily reported Monday citing sources in the aviation industry, the government and the presidential administration.

The new plane can have fewer seats and maximum rejection of imported components, including a possible replacement of engine, the daily said.

A special flight detachment is ready to order 10 SSJ100 planes of the new version for 35 billion rubles and the Defense Ministry is considering ordering around 30 aircraft.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft expects that the new version of SSJ100 aircraft could appear on the market in late 2022–early 2023. The company projects that demand for SSJ100 with 75 seats and a range of 1,500–2,500 kilometers could reach 200–300 planes on the Russian market and 3,000 planes on the foreign market.
